Watch Your Liquids
Some people can sleep the night without waking up to go to the bathroom, for others, it's inevitable to wake up at 2 am. If you find yourself waking up throughout the night it might be a result of drinking too many liquids before hitting the hay.
Try cutting down how much you drink before bed and see if that helps to give you an uninterrupted night’s sleep. If you are consuming liquids at night also be sure to check it if your beverage is caffeinated. Decaf is the way to go whenever its an option!
Check Your Mattress
Do you know how old your mattress is? If the answer is no, then it may be time to think about replacing it, especially as it’s recommended they are replaced every 7-10 years. Poor sleep can be a direct result of being uncomfortable throughout the night.
Look for a mattress that conforms to your body and its needs, and say goodbye to restless nights. Mattresses can be expensive, but this is one piece of furniture worth investing in. Your body will be thankful when you do!
Cut Down Screen Time
Spending time in front of the TV or your phone could be another contributing factor to a poor night’s sleep. These screens emit a type of light, known as blue light, that can disrupt your body’s production of melatonin that helps you sleep. Blue light tricks your body’s circadian rhythm and keeps your body “turned on”, even when it knows it should be winding down for the evening.
If you like falling asleep with the TV or being on your phone in bed try downloading an app to block the emission of blue lights.
That’s all we have for this blog! There are a number of other remedies to help you sleep better at night, though we hope you give these a try.
